Environmental Management Exhibit
Brandywine River Museum
Chadds Ford, PA

The Brandywine Conservancy includes both the Environmental Management Center, an active environmental consulting group, and the better-known Brandywine River Museum, famous for its collection of three generations of Wyeth art.  The idea was to publicize the EMC through an exhibit in the well-attended art museum.  The exhibit design had to be compatible with the art collection.

Immediacy was at the heart of our exhibit design.  On a wall-sized topographical map that stretched from the Susquehanna to the Delaware, we made every 4"x4" section of the map interchangeable with a 4"x4" translucent display block prepared to show where the EMC was active on that day.   It was important that the light pattern change every few weeks, and the fully-backlit display made it easy - so repeat visitors to the Art Museum would notice a change of pattern on every visit.
